NFC USB Sticks / Reader
NFC reader as terminal or USB stick
NFC readers with USB connection can easily upgrade the NFC function and enable NFC development for devices that do not have an integrated reader such as conventional desktop PCs, laptops or even tablets. Typical NFC functions such as reading or writing tags are enabled by such USB devices. But also the simulation of NFC tags and the P2P mode are supported. NFC hardware offered by us is designed for the greatest possible compatibility.
NFC Reader / Terminals
Our NFC readers/terminals from ACS or Springcard can be accessed via the PC/SC interface and can therefore be used with all platforms that have PC/SC drivers or abstraction layers. This includes Windows, typical Linux distributions and Android. For more information, please read our articles about NFC development for Windows and Android.
NFC USB Stick
As an alternative to the PC/SC readers, we also offer an NFC USB stick with the widely used NXP PN533 chipset. The chipset is documented in detail, works smoothly with LibNFC and supports all functions of the NFC standard. This is not the case with all NFC USB devices. LibNFC is an open source implementation of the NFC standard, which can be compiled under common operating systems (Windows, OS X and various Linux distributions). The use of LibNFC prevents binding to closed-source drivers and SDK - the stick can therefore be exchanged for any other standard-compliant NFC hardware after the development phase.
As a further special feature, the USB stick can be operated with the NXP NFC drivers as a proximity device under Windows 8-10. This means that the NFC function can be accessed via native operating system functions of the Universal App Platform, making the PC/SC interface superfluous.
