What is NFC?
We often know near field communication through payment. But what exactly is NFC?
In a nutshell: NFC stands for Near Field Communication and is a wireless communication standard that enables the exchange of small amounts of data between nfc-enabled devices.
But why is the technology actually called that? "Near Field" describes the exchange that takes place only over a short distance, typically between 1 and 10 cm. "Communication" means that information is transmitted in both directions. Unlike other wireless communication methods, such as Bluetooth and WLAN, NFC communication is configuration-free. Configuration-free means that no PIN, password or similar is required, making NFC particularly simple and user-friendly.
The increasing spread in everyday life has only become visible to many in recent years. For example, NFC already accompanies our daily lives in contactless payment, unlocking the hotel door lock, or scanning our ID card.
