What is a NFC chip?
An NFC chip is a small data carrier that contains stored information. It is often installed in an NFC tag and is required for data transmission because information has to be read from the chip. For example, it contains account information from the EC card when paying.

It is usually very tiny, about 1 mm² in size, and therefore about the size of a pinhead. With a storage capacity of 168 to 2048 bytes, it can contain about 100-2000 characters of text. An NFC chip is also made of the semiconductor silicon, such as chips in computer processors. However, for the chip to work, it still needs an antenna to send and receive data as well as to pick up the necessary energy from the near field. For this reason, an NFC tag is always larger than the actual chip.
