What information can be stored on an NFC tag?
NFC tags can be labelled with content. But which ones are even possible and what can they look like?
Information can be stored on NFC tags in various data types. As only small amounts of data can be stored, some information must be outsourced. For example, a link that takes you to an external website.
Text
NFC tags can be used to store information in text form. For example, an NFC tag can be labelled with contact details such as a name or address. From a kind compliment to a list or an e-mail, many things are possible.
Links
URLs can be stored on an NFC tag in order to link to websites. This can be a website with your own contact details or social media profiles, for example. Links can also be used to describe the NFC tag with images or music. Perfect for funny memes or sharing playlists!
Numbers
Numbers can also be written on NFC tags. These are required, for example, for a telephone number or for Wi-Fi access. This is also useful for serial numbers or for labelling products with prices and a date.
Code
It is also possible to describe an NFC tag with a few lines of code. For example, short commands can be written using a suitable app and ready-made code. However, there are also some apps that already make ready-made short commands possible. Examples of such commands include sending text messages, activating Bluetooth or activating Do Not Disturb mode.
