NFC Soundbars
For a better sound when watching TV, many living rooms nowadays have a soundbar with Bluetooth function. Thanks to Bluetooth, soundbars can do more than just improve the sound of the TV. With the wireless standard, you can pair your smartphone with the soundbar to then transfer music from the smartphone to the soundbar and play it through it. Wireless music transmission is especially convenient when you sit on the sofa in the evening and want to listen to music via the soundbar without complications. However, more and more Bluetooth soundbars can be found that are also equipped with NFC.
What advantages does NFC bring to Bluetooth soundbars?
The NFC technology complements the Bluetooth function perfectly because NFC makes it much easier to establish a connection between the smartphone and the soundbar. NFC is a wireless standard just like Bluetooth, but the range of NFC is limited to a few centimeters (1-4 cm). What sounds like a disadvantage at first turns out to be a big advantage when connecting the soundbar and smartphone. To establish a connection between these two devices via NFC, the smartphone only has to be brought to within a few centimeters of the soundbar. In contrast, you would first have to select the right device from a list of possible connection partners when connecting via Bluetooth and then confirm the pairing process by entering a PIN. However, due to the short range of NFC, the devices to be paired have to be held close to each other, so the smartphone is clearly signaled with which device it should connect.
In which situations are NFC soundbars particularly convenient?
Especially when friends come to visit, NFC soundbars can be very convenient. At a party, for example, different friends may want to take turns pairing their cell phones with the soundbar to play their favorite music for everyone. Thanks to NFC, it is very uncomplicated to pair different cell phones with a soundbar in turn. If you want to connect your phone to the soundbar, you just have to bring it close to the device.
