The ABS tag is equipped with the original MIFARE DESFire EV2 8k (MF3D 82). The chip offers full backward compatibility to the MIFARE DESFire EV1. The MIFARE DESFire series is intended for the realization of applications with high security requirements and offers corresponding security functions, which enable the protected storage of data on the chip. The MIFARE DESFire EV2 series (MF3Dx2) increases the security level with new features (key set rolling), removes the limit for applications and offers a higher write speed and improved range compared to its predecessor.
The MIFARE DESFire EV2 8k has a total capacity of 8192 bytes and has a 7-byte UID. The NFC chip can be written up to 500,000 times and has a data retention of 25 years. The chip is certified according to Common Criteria (EAL5+) and offers, among other things, 3-DES or AES128 compliant encryption. The MIFARE DESFire EV2 8k is compatible with all NFC-enabled terminals. Due to the special functions, special hardware (locking system) or software (app) is usually required for use.
