NFC product

The NFC tag is made of blue ABS material and has a size of 40 x 32 mm with a material thickness of 4.3 mm. The NFC tag has a metal ring which makes it easy to attach. Due to the robust plastic material, the ABS tag is waterproof and is therefore ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.

NFC chip

The ABS tag is equipped with the original ICODE SLIX (SL2S2002). NXP designed the ICODE SLIX series for use as a smart label and optimized it accordingly for small form factors and lower data volumes. Other features of the ICODE SLIX include the ability to write-protect the content. In addition, the chip supports the function of electronic article surveillance with password protection (EAS). In combination with the increased range, this makes it possible, for example, to monitor articles and their authorized removal at a gateway (use for lending books and media). The Application Family Identifier (AFI) function enables the chip to inform the reader of the intended use.
The ICODE SLIX has a total capacity of 128 bytes, of which usable memory in the NDEF is 106 bytes. The ICODE SLIX has a unique 8 byte serial number (UID). The NFC chip can be written up to 100,000 times. The ICODE SLIX is characterized on the one hand by a long data lifetime of 50 years (data retention) and on the other hand by a higher range compared to the NXP NTAG series. In practice, this means that smartphones can read the ICODE SLIX from distances of up to 1-5cm (compare NTAG practically 1-3cm). With appropriate readers (not smartphones), distances of up to 1.5m are also possible.
