The NFC USB Stick allows users to encode and read NFC tags. Moreover, the stick supports the NFC P2P mode for data exchange between devices. The stick is made by Sensor ID and is equipped with the NXP PN533 chipset. Therefore, he offers all functions provided by the NFC standard.

As the chipset is well documented and fully supported by LibNFC, this stick is well suited to get started with NFC development on PC systems. LibNFC is improved continually and has a very active community. Therefore, users do not have to rely on proprietary drivers or SDKs. Possible applications are:

Usage of NFC USB Sticks
The stick is delivered without binary drivers. The open source project LibNFC can be used to create drivers for all common operation systems (Windows, Mac OS X, Ubuntu/Debian, Fedora 12+). Afterwards, the NFC functions can be used via C API by LibNFC. Moreover, the stick can be used with Windows 7/8 NXP drivers. This way, the Windows 8 APIs for Near Field Communication are also supported and the development of Windows 8 Metro Apps is possible.
