Our PVC NFC cards with the I-CODE-SLIX offer ideal use around the topic of article protection. At the same time, it is particularly suitable for the subject of authenticity certification.
The white NFC Card is made of PVC, so it is both flexible and waterproof. It has a length of 8.5 cm, a width of 5.4 cm and a thickness of 0.90 cm. As this is the typical format of credit cards, our NFC Card should fit into all common wallets. The built-in chipset functions well with all common NFC-enabled smartphones.
Features & functions
The sticker contains the NXP ICODE SLIX, which has a memory capacity of 128 bytes (106 bytes NDEF) and can be written up to 100,000 times. This is an NFC forum type 5 tag. The ICODE SLIX is characterized on the one hand by a high life span of the data of 50 years (data retention) and on the other hand by a higher range compared to the NXP NTAG series. In practice, this means that smartphones can read the ICODE SLIX from distances of up to 1-5cm (see NTAG practically 1-3cm). With appropriate reading devices (no smartphones), distances of up to 1.5m are also possible.
The higher range results from the fact that the ICODE SLIX operates according to the ISO/IEC 15693 standard. In simple terms, this means that the day achieves a longer range with the same amount of energy due to lower energy requirements. This advantage is bought by the disadvantage of a significantly lower transmission speed compared to the NTAG series. Due to the low memory capacity, this is negligible for many applications.
Other functions of the ICODE SLIX include a unique 8-byte serial number (UID) and the option of providing write protection for the contents. In addition, the chip supports the function of electronic article surveillance with password protection (EAS). In combination with the increased range, this makes it possible, for example, to monitor articles and their authorized removal at a gateway (use for loan books and media). The function of the Application Family Identifier (AFI) enables the chip to inform the reader of the intended use.
